Winter is coming

I am so terribly happy that winter is coming.

I do quite poorly in the summer... sunburns and too hot. But it is growing season for dye plants... so I deal!

But winter... knitting and spinning and homemade soup!
Today I made soup!!

I fried:
2 leeks, 1 onion, 1 portobello mushroom, and a thingy of fennel. I fried it in hazelnut oil.

I baked:
1 giant head of garlic... with hazelnut oil on it

I boiled:
2 purple potatoes, 2 regular potatoes, 2 carrots

I put them together with many spices in a pot with water, simmered for a bit, and then added two cups of coconut milk.

Then I took out half, blended it up, and put it back in the soup.

I WIN!

Then I made cheese biscuits.... but with chestnut flour and coconut flour. And put cocoa in them and on top. Also they have ground flax seed, baking powder, cream, and coconut milk.

MORE WINNING!

Also... i've been spinning like a madwoman. So much fractal spinning... (Learned from Felicia Lo of Sweet Georgia Yarns for Craftsy.com)

Out into the woods!

The darling one and I are going adventure-dating in the woods tonight. Ya camping!!!

This week I need to finish a knit bolero for a friend's wedding, and a shawl for another friend's wedding the week after. So many weddings!

Also... I just got two braids of fibre from Woolgatherings (www.woolgatheringsfibres.com) Of the fine alpaca... these are going to be spun into something, and then knit into a shawl for my Mother-in-law. She is such a great person. AND- she loves everything I knit for her! !!

Culture crawl

Oh man!
So tired still!

I did the Culture Crawl (had my work in it) and I'm so exhausted! But happy.

I met what feels like ten thousand people, and now it's time to ready myself for Northern Ontario.

Things today

Oh today!
Tonight was spinning night at the yarn store.
I met new people there! More people spinning!! (This makes me all of the happy!)

I spun some fiber from Two Sisters With Sting Works.
It is the fiber from a Jacob Sheep... THE MOST METAL SHEEP EVER!
(This is the song to listen to when you spin fiber from this animal!!)

Today was also the third day of this running nonsense that i've been doing. It hurts a little less today... but only a small bit.

I got to go today with Baaad Anna, her tiny person, and my darling one.

I may have gotten the greatest colour of fibre... (Rusted) in the Merino Silk.
I came home right away and spun it.

I am in LOVE.

... Now... What to make with it?
