Longo intervallo

Terrible to think how long it has been since I have written on here... or posted photos.

Things that happened since i've been gone.
-I saw Bon Iver in concert. Oh love!
-Two dear ones (deer ones?) left to go overseas... one is Australia, and one to England. Miss them lots.
-I got to hang out with the Knit Social peeps at the Indie Yarn Swap. ( www.knitsocial.ca )
-I dyed much yarn... and now I have a strong hankering to over-dye some lovely things... oh love!!
-I got to hang out this weekend with a dear one. She was in town for the Maiwa Symposium. (The biggest most lovely fiber symposium on Vancouver.) And she had the most lovely time. And learned so many useful things... that she taught me!! I'm terribly excited to know these things!!... Check out her blog!! ( www.annaheywoodjones.com )

And now a photo...

I took these photos, and my darling one made them look lovely.
Taken at my birth celebration this year.

Crudelius est quam mori semper timere mortem

My partner and I adventured into dark woods today.

It was the first Autumn feeling day this year. I needed to be with the earth.
It smelled perfect, like strong dark soil.

We went wildcrafting for dye stuff.

Also, we played with sticks like Andy Goldsworthy

Yesterday was busy...
Set to dry... and then to be chosen at http://www.knitsocial.ca/knitsocial/Yarn_Swaps_%26_Sales.html

Locus standi

I dyed many skeins of wool one night...

Res ipsa loquitur

Aetatis

September 1st.

I'm quite sure that others are thinking about summer leaving us as a terrible thing.
But now it is time to harvest. Getting ready to store things for winter.

I've done well in the early summer at getting flowers collected...
Now it is time for leaves and berries and other lovely things.
Also food things. Canning and fruit dehydrating and readying for the cold times.

Autumn is my favorite season.
To celebrate colours...

Autumn flame is my favorite Sweet Georgia colour. Its fitting for today.

Omnes una manet nox

Today was success.
Purple and Yellow!!

Today was spent harvesting blackberries from the sides of roads with my lovely partner. Whom I will be forever grateful to for helping me because they wore shorts and not pants.

Also, I dead headded many marigolds from my garden... (and others around my home....)

Ready to dye.

Ab ovo usque ad mala

This Saturday i'm teaching a dye workshop at the shop (Baaad Anna's Yarn Store) on how to dye with Cochineal.
Pretty great... mostly because I love the colour it creates, but also because we're using bugs for dye. And it freaks people out. And I think its funny. Ha.

And more on colour....
I got to go to the beach in White Rock with my bestie...
I did this for her...
And I have a friend that takes the best photos...

These are all things that are pretty great.

Time to go outside. Its dye harvest time.

Liberae sunt nostrae cogitationes

Yesterday was a great sunny day... so I ventured into the woods to do some wild crafting for dyes.

Those tiny little alder pine cone things are what I was hunting, and I found a lot. Now its just a matter of finding time to go dye with them. Its so beautiful out that I want to exist outdoors.

Also, this week has been full of yarn dyeing already. I'm getting ready for the trunk show at Baaad Anna's Yarn store. This weekend. (July 9th and 10th). Where I will be be bringing out heaps of yarn.

The photo above is some of what i've been doing.

Also... this is something that everyone should look at today.....

Locus in quo

This week will be exciting. With new yarn that is un-dyed, and ready for colours that are hunted from the forest. (And maybe from gardens and places around my new home)
Going to go adventure out to find plants that were here before the invaders came.
