  1. I would recommend the Museum of Craft and Design! (http://www.sfmcd.org/) It's recently moved to a new home and I'm sorry to say that I missed going there when the husbeast and I went down for Maker Faire but it seems like something you and your loved one might be interested in.

Also, the Presidio park area (northwest SF) is a neat area to ride bikes around in, a little like home and little like away. As well as the Palace of Fine Arts is near by which might tickle your photographer fancy, it's a Greek inspired structure built for a 1915 Expo, lots of tourists though.

Oh! And if you're looking for a yarn shop, I would recommend Atelier Yarns (1945 Divisadero St) they've got some locally dyed yarns there and the ladies who helped me out when I was there were absolutely delightful!

  2. You should also check out Muir Woods.
If you're able to get to them, Sibley Regional Park and Tilden Park in the East Bay are both gorgeous as well.
As far as food check out Gracias Madre (Mexican) and Cha Ya (Japanese). Both are vegan, and freaking delicious.
I hope you enjoy your time in the Bay Area!

  3. Totally touristy but we really enjoyed the tour of Alcatraz Island. Be sure to go to E&O Asian Kitchen at 314 Sutter St. Absolutely delicious.
